busted thumb!!! grrr...this sux.
So, I had a hangnail, picked it. I was out-and-about, so I didn't have any nail clippers so I ripped it off using my grill, and damn, it bled a little bit, so I washed my finger off.
*timewarp: 2 days go by*
It gets infected...just a little bit. I go to my physician, and show it to him, and he prescribed me an antibiotic of Bactrin, and told me to soak it in luke warm water mixed with liquid dishwashing anti-bacterial soap 3 times daily.
So I did what he said, and my finger got more infected.
Then eventually, after several people said I was doing the wrong thing, and that I should have been soaking my finger in Epson salt / luke warm water; I decided to do just that. And it helped my finger get better toward recovery.
I noticed that my skin was healing now, so I didn't do anything, but the epson salt/ luke warm water procedure, until my mom, my fiancee and her mom, along with a few other people told me I needed to get it drained...in other words go to the hospital, in order to get it checked out.
Next, I did just that.
They gave my thumb some numbing stuff, and they cut out the half-a-jelly bean-sized-external-infection. I bled alot, hehehe hahaha, but man, I needed some pain killers, once the numbing stuff wore off.
After taking care of my finger:
1. Keeping it clean using saline solution / anti-biotics cream / gauze / gauze wraps
2. Taking another dose of Bactrin
3. A dose of the yellow-boxed anti-biotic (I don't remember the name of it)
4. and taking pain killers such as Ultram and Tylenol up until a few days ago.
...it's healed significantly, and on it's way to recovery.
The crappy part of this, is the lack of use of my right thumb, makes it hard to do tasks at times, but hell, I can get through it.
